Important message from the Principal
Partial reopening at Lewisham College
Following government advice, we stopped face-to-face classroom teaching in March 2020 and this will continue until further notice for the majority of students.
Since the recent government announcement that schools and colleges could begin to reopen, Lewisham College has made the decision to invite a limited number of students in to the College to successfully complete their qualifications from 15 June 2020. This will be for invited students only and will be reviewed on a regular basis.
This will generally apply to those who are unable to engage in remote learning from home or who need to complete the practical units in their course on site. This will be a relatively small number of learners and we will not be running a full timetable on site. Remote learning will also remain in place for all of our students.
We will be letting students know whether they are invited to attend College by email or phone. Please do not attend College if you have not received an email inviting you to do so.
We realise that we may need to adapt if the government and Public Health England advice changes and we will be putting plans in place to do this if necessary so that we can ensure we continue to offer a great teaching, learning and social experience for all our students. We will review this regularly and will only open if:
- All Government guidance can be met, in full.
- Individuals, College areas and work tasks have been risk assessed and appropriate mitigation measures are in place.
- Full consultation has taken place.
- The Principal, supported by the Executive Leadership Team and the College Board, authorises the action.
