We recognise that students have complex lives and sometimes struggle financially while they are studying. There is a range of financial support available from the College.
Discretionary Learner Support Fund
Discretionary Learner Support Fund is available for students aged 19+ to cover the costs of books, equipment and travel.
The College has identified the following eligibility criteria for Discretionary Learner Support Fund:
Students with a household income of £21,000 or lower
Students in receipt of out of work benefits
Asylum seekers with three years’ residency
a) Books and other course costs
How much you receive for books and other course costs depends on your area of study. Please see the list below for more detail:
Adult Basic Skills & ESOL £100
All other vocational subjects £200
Where students receive an allocation for books and travel they will receive two allocation payments; one during the autumn term and one during the spring term.
Students who live 1.5 miles or more from the College will be eligible for an award for travel. Awards will be equivalent to 50% of the cost of a discounted monthly Travelcard for 9 months. Travel allocations will be split into 3 and paid termly.
